I have been searching for a while for a suitable charity project that we can support with The Little Voyager and thanks to one of my favourite family bloggers on Instagram (@wasfuermich) I found this beautiful and transparent project in Loitokitok, Kenya, which is giving back to those in need.
Emma & Anton believe “no child should be deprived of their right to education and every woman should be able to make their own life choices.”
Giving Back to Those in Need and Emma&Anton
This amazing project came to life when Sina, a young German woman, travelled with her boyfriend to Kenya. They met two children, Emma & Anton, at the Alpha Blessed Vision School.
Emma is the daughter of one of the school‘s pre-primary teachers and a first-grade student. Sina met her in the schoolyard and carried her around all day spending time together. She immediately fell in love with her and decided to become Emma‘s sponsor.
The first boy they met outside of school was Anton. He did not attend class as his mom hadn‘t been able to pay the school fees. She was mentally ill and disappeared leaving Anton‘s HIV-positive old grandma started to take care of him. His grandmother could also not provide daily food for him and he still could not attend school.
All of this deeply touched the founders of this project and they chose the name of these two kids for their organisation: “Emma & Anton”.
Thanks to the sponsorship program they initiated, Anton went back to school at the end of 2019. It is incredible but true, with only 15 Euros a month, the world can changed for one child. He or she can attend the Alpha Blessed Vision School and have breakfast and lunch every day.
Right now they have big plans and created a new project to build a high school for the children in Loitokitok. I am thrilled to announce that with each of our holiday bookings, The Little Voyager will donate money to buy a symbolic piece of their new high school!
How you can Help Giving Back to Those in Need
Please check out their homepage and if you can, think about a sponsorship. Alternatively, you can directly buy daily life items for the kids in their little shop. Look through their picture gallery to see items delivered to the kids.
