El Cau with The Little Voyager

English theatre plays for kids at El Cau in Barcelona

On Sundays, it is always theatre (or kids activity) time at El Cau Plays and in the past year. My family has spent many Sunday mornings at this lovely space that has been designed with family fun in mind. Theatre plays are usually performed in the Catalan language. But on this occasion, it is my pleasure to announce there will be a play offered in the English language for the first time.

For all of you who have not been to El Cau, it is a unique space designed for families. The perfect play paradise created for enjoyment, fun and creativity. One part of the interior space is filled with toys, games, arts and crafts. Whilst other areas have innovative wooden maze-like designs with steps, ramps, toboggans and huts where children can run, climb, jump and hide.

The Play

El Cau opens its doors at 11am on Sundays and the play starts at 11:30am. Kids can play and parents can enjoy a coffee or second breakfast if they feel like it, there is a snack bar at the entrance.

The theatre play “Let’s Play the Tale – Old Ladies” is performed by Patricia McGill. Patricia is a storyteller born in Uruguay with Brazilian, Argentinian, Scottish, Italian and Irish roots. She participates in many storytelling projects both locally and internationally. She usually performs her stories in pubs, auditoriums and community centres, also collaborating with public libraries, primary and secondary schools, bookstores and museums. The recommended age for the play is children aged 4 to 8. The play will take around 50 minutes.

Please note; as this is a theatre play for older kids, adults don’t have to accompany their kids to watch the play unless they want to. They can sit and wait where the snack bar and tables are and enjoy some free time.
