Couples and families are equally well catered for with family accommodation located on Play, close to the superb Kids Club (complimentary for kids over three years of age) where activities are inspired by the natural surroundings. Think coconut crafts, treasure hunts, dolphin spotting, sushi-making and more.
Adults will equally be challenged to try even a fraction of the activities on offer. Between sunrise surfing and night-time snorkel tours, there is a full gym, tennis, badminton and beach volleyball courts, every conceivable water sport, boat charters, a full PADI dive centre and guided tours of the reefs with a marine biologist.
Both novice and advanced surfers will find ideal conditions for their skill level. Boat transfers to the hard to reach breaks are available, as is expert instruction and a surf shack for chilling out after.
The sumptuous spa, surrounded by a relaxation garden with plunge pools, is the perfect place to calm aching muscles, soothe sun-kissed skin and truly revitalise.
Niyama also offers some of the finest dining in the Maldives with six themed restaurants ranging from modern Asian cuisine among the treetops, to international fare by the infinity pool, afro latin signature concept restaurant, fresh seafood at the overwater restaurant, and the unforgettable experience of dining six metres below the surface. All also offer children’s menus. This is complemented by two relaxed bars and a deli for quick sandwiches and wraps.
Accommodation options include pavilions and villas, either suspended over the aquamarine sea, or nestled into the lush landscaping, with direct access to sparkling white sand beaches. All have king size beds, large luxurious bathrooms, in-room entertainment and fridges stocked with gourmet treats. Many have private pools and decks for quiet days soaking up the sun. Each is assigned a butler to ensure guests’ every wish is met.

The Area
The Dhaalu Atoll is a cluster of 56 coral islands that stretches for 38 km across the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Palm fringed beaches, sheltered lagoons and lush tropical vegetation are the typical scenery in this exotic part of the world.
The atoll has only recently been developed for tourism and only a handful of islands are inhabited, one of which is the 3km long Kandima, which borders a natural lagoon.
Prior to tourism some of these island were known for the skilled jewellers who traded with other islands in the region, but nowadays the main industry is the luxury resorts peppered throughout the atoll. The clear seas and healthy coral reefs create superb scuba diving opportunities and at certain times of year there is a good chance of sighting manta rays and hammerhead sharks.
To reach Dhaalu Atoll one has to fly from the international airport at Male, to the capital of the atoll, Kudahuvadhoo. From there it is a 20 minute boat ride to Kandima.
