Ibiza may have risen to fame as the European party pad, where the young and beautiful danced ‘til dawn in the trendy super clubs, but there is much more to the White Isle than nightlife.
The third largest of the Balearic Islands has always had an extremely laid back, accepting vibe, which has allowed it to successfully absorb the diverse people who are drawn to its natural beauty and vibrant atmosphere: hippies, artists, yogis, fashionistas, young families and alternative-lifestyle seekers all co-exist happily in this magical place, meaning there really is something for every type of visitor.
At only 40 km long and less than 20 km wide, it’s small enough to explore every coast - although a one or two week stay may not be enough to visit every one of the 80 beaches and coves that are tucked into its stunning coastline.
In summer, boat trips, water sports and days at the beach are inevitably the top things to do, whilst in the cooler spring and autumn months walkers, horse riders and cyclists come to as much for the interior attractions - pine forests, rolling hills, green valleys and historic whitewashed villages – as for the seaside ones.
From the famous hippie markets to designer boutiques there are plenty of shopping opportunities, whilst foodies are spoilt for choice with everything from simple local tapas bars to glamorous beach clubs and gourmet restaurants on offer. Culture seekers will find plenty of art galleries and music events and there is a huge variety of day trips and adventure sports to keep visitors of all ages entertained.
