- Bookings run Friday to Friday for weeklong stays. The property also offers mid-week or weekend options for shorter stays.
Set in the bucolic hills of West Sussex, the Rustic West Sussex Cottages includes two connected cottages in a beautiful 16th century farmhouse. The property offers self-catered stays, though guests of the cottages also get a discount at the property’s bakehouse, which is open during high season and offers delicious fresh food sourced from the garden and local suppliers.
The hosts also organise bread making and chocolate making workshops throughout the year, which are great for bakers of all experience levels and children aged 12 years and up. Younger children will enjoy exploring the 5-acre property, playing in the sandpit, swimming in the heated pool, and collecting eggs from the farm’s chickens.
All guests staying at the cottages are welcome to help themselves to the herb and summer vegetable patch, as well as the fruit trees and other seasonal produce. Both of the cottages are recently renovated, with beautiful Inglenook fireplaces and cosy wood burning stoves.
The farmhouse is the perfect jumping-off point to explore West Sussex, with lots of charming towns, easy walking trails, and beautiful coastline nearby.

Minimum Stay
There is a minimum 7-night stay, with booking weeks running Fri - Fri. For short breaks they offer 3 night weekend or 4 night mid week stays -Fri - Mon (3 nights) and Mon - Fri (4 nights).

Prices include electricity, gas, supply and laundry of bed linen, towels and t-towels. Please bring your own towels for swimming.
Deposits / Cancellations
The accommodation requires a 20% non-refundable deposit when confirming the booking.
The balance is due 8 weeks before arrival. In the event of a cancellation 8 weeks or less before the rental period, refunds of the amounts paid will only be made if the owner is able to re-let the property
A security deposit of £150 is required in the case of losses or damage to the property or its contents.
The Area
The Sussex Cottages are located just outside the historic market town of Steyning, in West Sussex, and are on the edge of South Downs National Park. There are lots of trails and footpaths nearby for walkers to enjoy, and plenty of pubs, teahouses, and shops in Steyning, including the award-winning Sussex Produce Company. Every other year in May, the Steyning Festival brings live music, cultural activities and a variety of performances to town.
In addition to Steyning, the small villages of Henfield, Shoreham-by-Sea and Storrington are close by, perfect to spend a few hours exploring, and the beaches are only a 10-minute drive from the property. Nearby Petworth House and Park is a great place to visit in any weather, and displays the finest art collection in the care of the National Trust, including works by Titian, Bosch, Blake, and dozens more.
